2015 Elected Official of the YearFoothills Gateway Award

On behalf of the individuals in services, the Board of Directors and staff of Foothills Gateway have chosen Gerry Horak as our 2015 Elected Official of the Year.

“We truly appreciate all the support you have provided Foothills Gateway and individuals with developmental disabilities over the years.  Additionally, we truly appreciate your recent advocacy and recommendation to reinstate extended para-transit services into the city budget.  As you know, these services are much needed and will assist many.”

Past recipients of this award include State Senator John Kefalas, Mayor Karen Weitkunat, State Representative Randy Fischer, and Governor John Hickenlooper.

 Gerry Horak Announced His Candidacy For Re-Election to City Council District 6

Current Mayor Pro Tem Gerry Horak today announced his candidacy for re-election to the Fort Collins City Council District 6 seat.   Gerry has resided in the City’s northwest district for the past thirty-eight years.  He has been elected five times to represent the citizens of northwest Fort Collins, most recently in 2011.
  • Gerry has provided pragmatic balanced leadership in protecting neighborhoods as well as open, responsive, accountable and fiscally responsible government.
  • Gerry has responded to thousands of citizen emails and calls.  He holds bimonthly listening sessions with citizens to learn about their issues and opinions at local coffee shops, the City Park Golf Clubhouse, and the Senior Center.
  • Gerry has worked for affordable housing, as demonstrated by his support of the Legacy Senior Project and permanent supportive housing at Redtail Ponds.  He is proposing a housing affordability capital fund be established and funded.
  • Previously Gerry was instrumental in the establishment of the Natural Areas Program and the expansion of trails and open spaces.  Most recently Gerry was a member of the committee that worked tirelessly for the successful passage of the County Open Space Program Tax Extension.
  • Gerry has focused on finding regional sustainable solutions to Northern Colorado issues through his work on numerous boards and coalitions.
